gallerywest is a space for contemporary art located at 1172 Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario. This project space is intended to facilitate exciting new contemporary art shows in a wide variety of mediums. One of the unique features of gallerywest is the dialogue it bridges between Toronto and Western Canada with an emphasis on Saskatchewan artists. Saskatchewan is a province with an abundance of raw, quirky and prolific creative talent that the gallery is proud to represent in Canada’s epicenter of arts and culture.
gallerywest aims to provide a multi-diciplinary space for emerging and established artists from across Canada and beyond. Our programming direction focuses on works that are thoughtfully engaged in the exploration of borders, boundaries and psycho-geographic narratives.
Evan Tyler is a facilitator of contemporary art and the programmer for all showings at gallerywest. The gallery houses all types of work such as photography, painting, video, sculpture, performance, prints and mixed media. Since opening its doors at its former location (1332 Queen St West) in October 2010, gallerywest has built a reputation for housing diverse and provocative exhibitions on a month to month basis as well as readings, performances and other various interdiciplinary events.
